RBI’s Clarification on Aadhaar Linking
In its clarification, the RBI stated, “There has been some media coverage regarding the RTI reply, suggesting that linking Aadhaar to bank accounts may not be necessary. The RBI would like to clarify that on June 1, 2017, the Central Government issued the Money Laundering Prevention (Maintenance of Records), Second Amendment Rule 2017 in the gazette, mandating the linking of Aadhaar numbers to bank accounts. Banks are required to adhere to this rule without awaiting any further orders.”

OTP-Based Aadhaar Linking and Account Authentication

To make the Aadhaar linking and authentication process convenient for our customers, our bank has launched a secure web page. This online platform enables customers to seamlessly link their Aadhaar to their accounts or authenticate previously linked accounts from the comfort of their homes. Please note that this process relies on One-Time Password (OTP) verification, and it can be utilized only by customers whose mobile numbers are updated in both their bank accounts and the Aadhaar database.
