RBI’s Clarification on Aadhaar Linking
In its clarification, the RBI stated, “There has been some media coverage regarding the RTI reply, suggesting that linking Aadhaar to bank accounts may not be necessary. The RBI would like to clarify that on June 1, 2017, the Central Government issued the Money Laundering Prevention (Maintenance of Records), Second Amendment Rule 2017 in the gazette, mandating the linking of Aadhaar numbers to bank accounts. Banks are required to adhere to this rule without awaiting any further orders.”
How to Link Your Aadhaar Card to Bank of Baroda (BOB) Account Online
You can easily link your Aadhaar to your existing account using any of the following simple methods:
OTP-Based Aadhaar Linking and Account Authentication
In compliance with the amendments introduced under the Prevention of Money Laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017, it is mandatory for all accounts to be linked with Aadhaar and authenticated through biometric or Yes-No verification.
To make the Aadhaar linking and authentication process convenient for our customers, our bank has launched a secure web page. This online platform enables customers to seamlessly link their Aadhaar to their accounts or authenticate previously linked accounts from the comfort of their homes. Please note that this process relies on One-Time Password (OTP) verification, and it can be utilized only by customers whose mobile numbers are updated in both their bank accounts and the Aadhaar database.
Step 1: Enter your valid account number and click on the “Continue” button. You will receive an OTP (One Time Password) on your registered mobile.
Step 2: Enter the OTP and Captcha, then click on the Validate button. Once the OTP is validated, you will be redirected to another page that prompts for your Aadhaar Number.
Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar Number and click on the “Continue” button. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile from UAIDI. Enter the received OTP from UAIDI and validate it by clicking on the “Validate” button. Once it is successful, your personal details will be displayed.

To link your Aadhaar Card with your BOB bank account, make sure you have the following documents ready: an original copy and photocopy of your Aadhaar Card, your BOB passbook, and the Aadhaar Card linking form, which can be downloaded from the BOB website or obtained from a BOB Branch.
Next, fill out the form by providing the required information, including the name and address of your branch, your BOB account number, your name, and address as printed on the Aadhaar Card, and your Aadhaar Number or Aadhar UID number. Attach a photocopy of your Aadhaar Card to the form.
Once you’ve completed the necessary details, visit your bank branch to submit the application to a bank representative or official. The bank will then verify your details and accept the original Aadhaar Card along with a photocopy.

You will receive a notification from the bank on your registered mobile number once your Aadhaar Card has been successfully linked to your BOB account.

The time it takes to complete the process can vary, but once your documents are submitted, it typically takes 24-48 working hours for you to receive a status update on your Aadhaar seeding via SMS to your registered mobile number.
To use the Aadhaar seeding facility, your mobile number should be updated both in your bank account and in the Aadhaar database. If it’s not updated, you should visit your BOB branch to update your mobile number before proceeding with Aadhaar linking.
