Deadline for Linking Aadhaar Card to Axis Bank Accounts
Earlier this June, the Central Government issued a mandate requiring the Aadhaar to be linked with bank accounts. By December 31, it’s essential to link your Aadhaar Card to your bank account to avoid transaction issues or potential closure of the account.
Procedure to Update Aadhaar Details in Axis Bank Accounts
The Government, in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2005, amended the requirement necessitating Aadhaar for all bank accounts. Existing bank accounts must be linked with Aadhaar by December 31, 2017, or risk being blocked for usage. Customers yet to receive their Aadhaar number must submit their enrollment application proof to the Bank.
Please Note: The mandate excludes customers holding NRI accounts, small savings accounts, and those residing in Assam, Meghalaya, and Jammu & Kashmir.
What is Aadhaar?
Aadhaar is a unique 12-digit identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to Indian residents upon enrollment.

- Link Aadhaar via Mobile Banking: Log in to Axis Mobile App, choose Insta Services, and proceed to link Aadhaar for Govt. Benefits.
- Link Aadhaar via SMS: Send “Aadhaar <Aadhaar No.> AC <last 6 digits of A/C no.>” to 5676782.

You’ll receive an SMS on your registered mobile number once the request is processed. Contact Axis Phone Banking Center or visit a branch to inquire about the status of your request. You can also check the status of successfully updated Aadhaar via Axis Mobile.
Linking Your Aadhaar Card to Your Axis Account through Offline Process
Before starting the process of linking your Aadhaar Card to your Axis bank account, ensure you have the required documents ready: an original and photocopy of your Aadhaar Card, your Axis passbook, and the Aadhaar Card linking form available for download on the Axis website or obtainable from an Axis Branch.
Fill in the necessary details on the form, including your branch name and address, Axis account number, your name and address as on the Aadhaar Card, and your Aadhaar Number or UID number. Attach a photocopy of your Aadhaar Card with the form. Once all the details are completed, visit your bank branch to submit the application to a bank representative.
The bank will verify your information and accept the original Aadhaar Card along with a photocopy. They’ll initiate the verification process, cross-checking the provided information with the Aadhaar database. If the details match, your application will be processed, and upon completion, you’ll receive a notification on your registered mobile number confirming the successful linkage of your Aadhaar Card with your Axis account.
